Christmas is on it’s way!
It’s been a busy few days in the Generally Gemma household. As you may have gathered from my previous post I have been feeling a bit under the weather of late. So, I took a day’s precious holiday on Friday to clean the house. Strange I know but somehow control and order of my domestic setting help me feel controlled and ordered in my head. Things got a bit out of control though so I only managed the lounge and the dining room on Friday due to me enthusiasm for wiping down woodwork and cleaning knick knacks. (I have a lot of knick knacks.) So Saturday dawned and undaunted I started on the kitchen, pulling things out of cupboards and cleaning the insides and the tops and of course the skirting boards and kick boards and scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees.
So the ultimate reason for all this activity is this
I spent Sunday in an orgy of tree decorating. Which I do in the dark to better see the positioning of the fairy lights and so picture taking was not at it’s best. So these two pictures are but a taster of what I will be taking at the weekend to properly showcase my new beloved tree and my bits and pieces.
This little Father Christmas is one of many that our extended family now own. My Brother and his flatmates have three appropriately named ones on their tree and I they bought me one for mine. Just need to find an ornament for G now!

What an adorable Santa, yes you must get one for G, then, I think you might have one of your first traditions – Mr & Mrs Santa on the tree.
Cleaning house is so refreshing to the mind!
I’m sorry you’re under the weather, being sick during this time is so hard : (
But I adore your tree, and personalized santa!
I love your little santa. I still have all the cleaning and decorating to do. I am really late this year!
Lovely little Santa. Think you definitely need to get something for G too though. I know what you mean about feeling ordered in your head when your home is in order. I am totally the same. It makes me feel all out of control when my flat is a mess.
Looking forward to seeing further pictures of the tree.
“an orgy of tree decorating”!!!!!!!
Good gracious, show some decorum please!
Have just put my little father christmas on the tree ho ho ho !!
I can’t remember buying you that, what a nice fella I am, and what a hit!!! My tree is going up this weekend. Unfortunately, I am not the only John in the house and therefore have a Harry Santa, oh the humour!!!
I also have to go on a cleaning jag before I can get the Christmas stuff out. A big chore, but so worth it in the end.
Merry Christmas to you!
What truly lovely photos … best wishes for a marvelous Christmas just the two of you.
Ack! we haven’t even bought our tree yet – I know…bad mommy!
Hi Gemma. I think households up and down the counrty have been ‘spring cleaning’ ready to put their tree and decorations up. I finally got into the christmas spirit yesterday and have decided to re-open the blog over christmas. See you about kido…. love Julia x
