Springy Easter
Well, what a lovely long weekend that was. I do sometimes feel rather jealous of G because he teaches he gets so much more holiday time and when the first week was as glorious as it was I became convinced that the Easter Weekend was going to be a misery weather wise. However, it was not to be so. The day dawned bright and glorious as I skipped around the garden playing bunny for G.
Because we were at home this year I got to indulge myself in all the Easter traditions I remembered from when I was little. Boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast with new friends.
Roast lamb with rosemary, garlic and mint crust. Chopped up with my lovely new toy! (Thanks M)
Not exactly a simnel cake with the traditional marzipan balls instead a citrus poppy seed cake with mini eggs and chicks. Quite delicious if I do say so myself.
And plenty yes plenty of the above.
See my needs are simple. After four days of shopping, crocheting, baking, cooking, sunbathing, pottering in the garden and spending time just being I feel rejuvenated. I think if I’d had two weeks of school holidays by now I would be practically horizontal I’d be so laid back!
Whew! What a picture laden post that was! So, M do you feel you’ve seen enough to feel as though you were here? And just one more picture because I am so excited about the way my cake slice so perfectly matches my new to me cake plate!
Oh, and about David Tennant being my David, which some of you clearly took offence to! He is a Time Lord ladies, he can be everyones lovely David! See all sorted!

I love the pictures… the cake looks delicious and the little chicks are fab
That cake looks scrumptious! I love marzipan :)
You can have David all to yourself if I can have the plate and the cake slice…..? No?
Am I allowed to say that I find Dr Who (David T) to be about as sexy as a J-Cloth?
Or would that not be advisable?
;-)
Lovely photos, looks like you had a super day, as for those little fluffy darlings, they even have little wings !! A special Easter made from memories with a twist !!!!
Wow, what lovely, uncommercialised traditions!
Gemma, your photos are wonderful & your crochet!
Phew…. glad the David thing is sorted!!
The cake, plate and slice all look yummy and beautiful, as do all the wonderful flowers.
But the crochet!!!
I too am about to embark on a crochet journey – the ripple blanket – cannot wait!
Just wish i had a slice of that cake to go with my tea and crochet x

Pardon my cultural ignorance, but what on earth are soldiers?
Soldiers are thin fingers of buttered toast that you poke in your dippy egg !! Warning… do it gently or the yolk oozes out and runs down the sides of the egg, thus wasting loads of scrumptiousness !
Don’t forget to let the witch out when you’ve finished !!!!!!!!!!
