Unfinished business
It really shouldn’t take nearly twenty years to finish off a project now should it! But that is how long this has taken me. I started this just before my tenth birthday I think. I remember sitting in my Aunt’s lounge struggling with understanding daisy stitch and M shouting at me to keep my thread short because she wasn’t going to be continually untangling it! (Bless her patience!)
M brought it over with her when she visited a few weeks ago and I finally finished it. Nearly twenty years for a tray cloth has to be some sort of a record I think!
Which makes me shudder to think how long something like this would take me.
I shall have to take back what I said about never finding anything good in charity shops!

I love the embroidery. It is so pretty in close-up photos and looks great in your blog banner. I probably have a few of those “started 20 years ago” projects around here too!
I sympathise entirely – I had a similar embroidery set given to me as a birthday present aged 8 or 9. It was a dressing table cloth with two smaller square cloths – presumably a large cloth to rest your brush and mirror on and two smaller ones for powder-puffs or perfume bottles….I never had a bedroom big enough for a dressing table so heaven knows what I was expected to do with it…..I have a horrible feeling it’s lurking somewhere in my parents loft (unfinished!!!) and that’s about 30 years ago….
Gemma I love it. I have a WIP that is 10 years old but you have beaten me hands down girl!!!
I think you should do more of them, they are lovely.

Are you sure I shouted, doesn’t sound like me !!!!!
