Turning
I am christening this the year of the Sumer that never was. It seems far too early this year for the leaves to be changing colour and to be getting out my boots.
I’m normally more than ready for Autumn by the time it comes. Ready to wrap up warm in gloves and scarves but this year it seems like I’ve hardly had a chance to get used to sandals before it was time to put socks on again. Even though the socks are bright and hand knitted it still feels a teeny bit wrong.
I wore ballet shoes on Monday and got thoroughly drenched on my walk up the road to work. Squealchy and I had to use my dry change of clothes for the first time this year. So out came the boots and the raincoat. Love my knee high boots, even under my trousers, so warm and cozy. I am on the look out for a trench coat thing though. My rain coat is repulsive and I don’t think I can bear wearing it another year. I don’t mind the cold so much it’s the sogginess of it all. Not driving at this time of year is the utter pits.
Anyway, enough rambling from me, I just hope that Autumn actually is Autumn this year and we get some crisp sunny days rather than heading straight into freezing dark damp Winter and skipping yet another season.

definetly very Autumnal here in East Anglia this week, brilliant sunshine and blue skies followed hastily by squalls!
I can’t wait for fall! Its taking its ol’ sweet time to show up here in Georgia.
Bright, sunny and distinctly chilly is my favourite! Although the kids are pushing hard for a long, snowy winter (we live 25 yards away from the school; the snow has to be very bad before it disrupts us!)
I love those crisp, bright days too. And I’m knitting a Branching Out scarf, Gemma!
Hi, fancy two Gemmas doing the Summer of Socks KAL!
Pretty pictures on your blog, will have to start stalking you …. just joshing, looking forward to 1 october.
I’m crazy for Autumn and, to me, he’s always welcome.
About your raincoat: can it be that repulsive?! I’m curious about it and I’d like to see it.
I LUV that last photo!
