Homework

November 20, 2007

When G signed up to being a teacher I suppose I didn’t really have much of an idea of what it entailed. Because as we all know teachers live in their school cupboards and don’t really have lives of their own! In all seriousness though, I did imagine it was a bit of an easy ride. Finishing at 3:30 all those long holidays. After all how difficult could it be.

Turns out teachers really do work quite hard. However, no one ever told me that I would be expected to work hard too!

45 minutes it took to get this right! Both sets of Mother’s called, the microwave went off, the doorbell rang. Seems like you can’t ever actually get ten minutes of peace and quiet in my house! 45 minutes of my life I will never get back! I just hope the kids appreciate it.

So M, when you called and I swore at you, I didn’t mean for you to take it personally!

What a laugh, very impressed and how I love G’s ‘school voice’ , all calm and controlled, very different from his ‘watching sport voice’. I hope the children appreciate your efforts and pay attention during the experiment or they will hear another of G’s many ‘voices’ !!

If only my science teacher had done some fun experiments! Sadly I may not get to see Kaffe Fassett as all tickets are sold out, I’m on a waiting list- so disappointed but have a good time in Wales.

What a fantastic teacher. I can’t say I wish I’d had as good a teacher in my day – because to be honest most of my teachers were great.
    wow.

Oh, he is so cool! I’ve been doing some kiddie science with my little girls at home and they are going to adore this one. Has he made any more films like that?

Oooh, oooh, Sir, I know, I know (waving my arm about) ask me!

What a cool science teacher, now it’s been a long time since I was at school so will G explain why?! BTW I never thought teachers had it easy, I certainly wouldn’t want their job being surrounded by kids all day long…exhausting!

Only 45 mins? I reckon that’s darn good going. Things like that take me hours. Wish school had been like this in my day.

Sorry to any of you who are patronised by this, but at Gemma’s request….this works because the candle needs oxygen to burn, but that runs out after a few seconds. This creates a vacuum, nothing just appears in its place, thus the water is sucked up in place of where the oxygen was. Yes, like a vaccum cleaner as the would-be jesters in my class pointed out with unintentional correctness!

thanks G – some of us (ok just me) didn’t know and appreciate finally being told :)
