Easter
Easter is the holiday where I don’t need to compromise my traditions. G’s family doesn’t really do Easter as an event, for them it was more about the chocolate. Which of course has it’s place in our family traditions but for us it has normally been a family gathering day with roast lamb, cake, snoozing in front of the tv and the eating of too much chocolate. And that is exactly how we spent Sunday at my house.
Bro and his girlfriend joined us for the day which was lovely. They are moving in together in a few weeks and are rather excited. And as far as I am concerned no house is complete without an Emma Bridgewater pint mug and so that is what M and I bought the two of them as a moving in present. It was great having the two of them there especially as T (girlfriend) threw herself into the spirit of the GRAND EGG HUNT!
Perhaps not as spirited as J and G were about the whole thing, but she was determined to get her share of the eggs and bunnies that were littered about the shop.
Speaking of bunnies
G did not get me an Easter Egg! I was unimpressed so he disappeared Sunday morning to join the throngs of other men doing guilt shopping. Part of the forgiveness process is me ritually humiliating him here. So please do enjoy. In fact here is a close up in case you can’t quite see the detail clearly!
Bless him. It’s a good job he loves me!
This isn’t the greatest photo in the world but to me it is what Easter is really about. Family around the table. It was odd sitting there with Bro and T. Pulling crackers, (did you know you could get Easter crackers!)telling jokes and swapping stories. I occasionally have these moments where it hits me that I am a grown-up and that was one of those times. Sitting in my house, eating proper food, drinking nice wine, (thanks T!) gently taking the piss out of each other. It was good. In fact it was great. Sitting in front of the tv later with munching and snoozing was even better. Everything was exactly as it should be and exactly how I hoped it always would be when I thought about how being a grown-up would be. I felt lucky. Lucky that Bro and I still get on, (well most of the time) lucky that G and T fit in so well with the two of us. It was indeed one of those moments that I want to freeze and store in my mind.

What fun you all had, love the bunny ears!!!
That looks like fun. We’ve always had egg hunts for the kids but not the adults. Maybe next year, we’ll have one for us, too. If you want a good babka recipe, send me your email and I’ll send it to you. Happy Spring!
Ahh, my babies are all grown up!!! Glad you all had a lovely time all together. xxxx
It’s great to get together with family, we don’t do it often enough and when we do we always say “we must do this more often” and never do!
I had one of those moments on Sunday too. Looks like you had a great Easter. I will have to look for Easter crackers next year.
Good to see that you had a great Easter – I was a bit worried after that bug invasion reported in the previous post ;-)
What fun! This is a very, very pleasant looking way to spend Easter. The lamb and the chocolate and the hunting and the fun. Nice.
Looks like you had a wonderfull Easter Day.
