Bluster
When the weather outside blows, it starts to get cold and the nights get darker earlier I always find myself drawn to looking at pictures that I took during the Summer.Bright light, warm air, being outdoors. Whilst I enjoy the cozy aspect of Winter I mourn the passing of Summer in the way that I never do the passing of Winter.
While I was searching through this Summer's pictures I found these of G giving Brum his first clean of the year, first clean ever if the truth be told! Even though cleaning the car is clearly still a novelty for us it's an activity that I can't imagine is pleasant in the Winter. Biting wind and cold makes the spray from the hose something to be dreaded rather than a pleasing, cooling drench.
I love the look of concentration on G's face when he doesn't know that I'm watching him. He scrunches his whole face up just like a little kid completely engrossed in whatever it is he is doing. It's also his watching football face, which for some reason requires the same amount of attention as washing the car, chopping a carrot or marking school work does!
So it's goodbye Summer indeed with the recent weather and I suppose goodbye clean car as well! As I can't imagine this is going to happen again anytime soon!
I’m ashamed to admit that I never wash my car. I take it to the little man at the garage who does a much better job than I ever could.
I hate cleaning the car in the winter. Actually I hate cleaning most of the time. Although I always love the way it looks when it’s done. Luckily Simon doesn’t seem to mind doing it for me! It’s very wintery all of a sudden isn’t it. I don’t mind it too much but Simon really hates it and I’m really having to keep him cheerful at the moment with lots of talk of Christmas and looking forward to our early Spring Wedding and Easter Honeymoon. Winter is lovely and cosy but there’s nothing like sunny summer evenings is there?
How lovely. Washing a car in the sunshine. It’s practically forbidden here because of the drought but it sounds like a wonderful thing to do! Farewell summer, eh?
Ooo Gemma… he’s very cute : )
Grief I never wash the car, send him over please.
Such great pictures, and such sweet commentary. :-) My husband makes the most wonderful faces when he’s concentrating, too. I think it’s great when a couple knows each other’s expressions so well. Thanks for sharing!
