Spain is my escape hatch aswell as being one of the places that I call home it is also the place that I go to when I need to put myself back together. I had a bit of a melt down due to some things going on here and decided that the best thing to do would be to pack myself on a plane and head to Spain for a week for some sunshine and mothering time. Because who doesn't feel better after a hug from their Mum and some warmth!
I haven't been in Spain at this time of year for a long time. I've been before and after prime mimosa time but seeing the trees with this sort of blaze of colour is amazing. M prefers the pale fluffy version in the first picture on this post but I'm a big fan of the full on yellow variety.
The egg yolky colour is similar to my beloved daffodils and the puff ball nature of them is just so ridiculous that it puts a huge smile on my face! M used to cut huge swathes of them years ago and have them in vases in the house for Easter and branches of them were always part of our Easter tree.
When I was younger and had my horse we used to go for rides out in the countryside and we'd walk underneath the heavy branches laden with puff balls and we'd come home covered in the stuff. So I suppose it isn't just the look of them but the memories that are wrapped up in them that makes me smile and feel contented. Like the smell of new mown grass, or freesias. All good things that me burst with happiness.

We must have a different breed of mimosa here because ours bloom pink and not as puffy. And they are the
most pestiferous trees! My neighbor had one. They smell nice when they bloom and then seed fly everywhere and we had to pull out hundreds of little trees every spring. I don’t miss it.
It’s so good to know there’s somewhere you can go for head-space when it’s needed. Enjoy!
Lovely photos Gemma.
Thank you
Hope your trip did you good, some lovely photos here.
Sounds like Spain was exactly the medicine that you needed. I’m glad you’re feeling cheerier! xo, Sarah
Didn’t they come out well !!! I miss you. xxxx
What a fabulous deep yellow, really cheerful. It doesn’t seem to matter how old we get, a hug from Mum is always great. (when I said old I ment me!)
I can’t wait to see flowers here.In the meantime I’m happy to look at yours.Thank you.
Ah-hah! So that is what mimosa is! I think we might actually have it in Hawaii, we just call it a different name!
