New man in my life

May 15, 2009

Malcolm

Meet Malcolm who has been my constant companion and supporter for the last few weeks. Those of you who have a wii may well recognise him as the male trainer in the wii fit program but to me he is Malcolm. (G has chosen the female trainer called Svetlana but we won't go into that here!)

It's been an unpleasant few weeks in the Generally Gemma household with certain plans for the future being put on hold with the upshot being that I have to lose to weight and quite a bit of it before the play button can be pressed again.

I don't post pictures of myself here very often in fact I can think of only twice that I have done so. The main reason for that is that I am overweight and have a major case of insecurity over it. However, that is changing. We bought the wii with the main aim of weight loss, once I've lost some in the privacy of my own home then I'm going to start going swimming again which to be honest is the only form of exercise I really enjoy. I just can't face the idea of being out in public in a swimming costume at the moment.

The other major change is that I've joined a slimming club

which is nothing like this! I'm hoping that the ordeal of having to be weighed by someone every week will humiliate me into sticking to the program. And so far so good. The new improved Gemma has been going for two weeks now and in that time I've lost 11 and a half pounds so hopefully life from here on in is going to be a lighter one and one where I don't want to hide away under a blanket all the time!

Good luck with your journey, I definitely think joining some kind of club is a great way to do it, I joined one online, basically I felt that I had to part with a little bit of money to make me do it!

    Good luck to you!
I think the first step is always the hardest, it gets easier after that!

Oh I’m so proud of you Gemma! I hear you on the bathing suit thing. I’m performing in one of my dance company’s shows, and I have to wear a LEOTARD in front of thousands of people. I’m NOT pleased, but my choreographer says that it has to be so, so I’m sucking it up. Literally.

Sounds like you’ve made a wonderful start! Cheering you from over here.
