shadow play

There is a certain time of the evening at a certain time of year when the sun is in the exact perfect place for a matter of minutes that it comes through our bedroom window and bathes the entire room in the most perfect golden sunlight. (I think I took these photos at the same sort of time.) I've been struggling for a few weeks now to try and capture it. Most days I forget and the days that I have wandered in there and found the perfect moment I have misplaced my camera and in the time I've taken to find it the sun has moved and that oh so tiny window has passed.
Then it's taken me a few goes to accept that I am never going to get a picture that truly covers how lovely it is. The way the light makes the air almost sparkle and how pretty the shadow of the net curtains looks on the wall. (I hate nets but the fact that our bedrooms face onto the front make them a necessity) These two are the closest I've been able to get to it and now I look at them they again they aren't right but they are as close as I am going to get!

Some things you just can’t capture through a lens. Soaking them up is the only way to go.
Though your words do your bedroom light justice.
oh gemma. Stunning post. The photos only hint at what you see but I can just imagine the perfection of it.
They are really evocative photos, I especially like the second one, with just a hint of solid objects at the bottom to contrast with the shadows. I love the idea of the sun making the light in your room sparkle!
