not for the squeamish!

July 21, 2009

M and I decided to try our hands at making chiperons, a sort of squid, from scratch the other day and mainly to repulse G and inform Bro I decided that I would video the proceedings! If you are of a somewhat squeamish nature though it might be best not to press play!

Very tasty it was too! We marinated the pieces in olive oil, lemon juice/zest, chili and of course salt and pepper! Although it was an awful lot of work for quite little end product it was worth doing just to say that we had done it!

How interesting. Are there sequels in the pipeline – the cooking bit and the eating bit?
I’m very fond of chargrilled baby octopus, but one of my least favourite things I’ve ever eaten was a squid tube stuffed with some sort of veal mince – more because of the veal than the squid I think.

    Love your Mum! Hello Mum.
My mother used to conscript me into squid cleaning as a child as my small fingers were more suited to it (or so she said!)
    Hope they were yummy.

I’ve never done that just because it looks fiddly! But I do really want to try! Thanks for the vid!

I have often wondered why they are white and not patterned, you take that layer off! You should do more of these! Some more blog posts on cookery please, I love it!
Love the ashtray in the backgound, very health and safety!

I knew there was a reason why I always choose to buy prepared squid!! Although having seen your Mums video tutorial I am going to have a go, as Miss T loves them.

For some reason, your blog wouldn’t open for me. It took some playing around but finally I got it to open and there was the squid….
I caught up on the blog entries and I’m sorry about the redundancy. We are always hearing rumors like that around my place. It’s scary. I hope Mom is making things better (they tend to be good at that!)

Oh my gosh, I love hearing your voice! HA! It’s completely different than I expected it would be. For some reason I pictured that you would have a super high Britishy voice like Dawn French doing one of her sillier characters. I was so off *LAUGHING*
And wow – I am not too squeamish when it comes to preparing food, but whew that was gross! I bet they were so tasty though!!!
