Actual Knitting!
It seems an age since I had any knitting to show you here, I was beginning to feel as though I wasn't earning my crafting stripes! When it comes to me and knitting, in fact any crafting, I am far less about the finished object and more about the process. For a number of reasons, one the expense of the raw materials and two the time required to spend on them. With a full time job, (I had one once upon a time) a house to run and G who occasionally requires my attention I find it very hard to commit to projects and as I'm not the speediest crafter around this does tend to mean that my output is somewhat limited!
I cast on for this early this year when we were house bound because of snow!
The colours were inspired by the snow falling from the sky in front of the trees. The green basically because I had it lying around and the shimmery wool was an impulse purchase at some point.
Because of my limited output though I do try and make sure that I learn a new technique with each thing I knit. For this project it was button holes! And look folks there is one! Took me a while, I think six goes of trying and tinking back and getting frustrated but I got there in the end!
It may of course look a little familiar to some of you that have been hanging out here in my corner of blogland for a while! That would be because some time ago I made another cushion to the same pattern. I am a creature of habit! That one was inspired by Spanish Summers. So I have a bit of a thing going on here I think. One cushion for each of my two homes and two different seasons. Spanish Summer, English Winter.
If I carry on the theme I am going to need at least one more and do a Welsh Spring! Although what colours that would be is beyond me!!
And here it is in it's place on the sofa. Quite at home I think. And now I am off to see what other WIPs I can find in my craft boxes. I think there is at least one pair of socks in there that will need some finishing off!
Very pretty! I like the contrast between the two :)
i remember the original cushion! Gosh you are clever, making up your own designs like that. I don’t have your aesthetic I think – I hvae tried to think of nice cushion designs and come up empty. So well done!
Wouldn’t a welsh spring be very green?
This is really pretty, love the stripes on the back.
Congrats on the button holes! Colours of Wales…Cardiff City, daffodils, grass, leeks and loads sheep !
Ooooh, well done.
I’m a WIP girl, You inspired me to look for mine too.
