Grown-up Socks

October 13, 2009

Once upon a time there lived a girl who loved her high heeled shoes. She wore them everywhere, clubbing, school, university, work anywhere her little feet needed her to go. As far as she was concerned the higher the heel the better it was and never once did she listen to her parents say how she'd end up breaking an ankle in them one day. She never did break an ankle in them you know, even running along cobbles, up and down stairs or traipsing round all over the place.

These were especial favorites of hers. A chunky heel, a little platform and made of nice shiny fabric. They were bought for her first university ball and she possibly loved them more than any of her others. (Not that she would have told the others that!)

The one day she woke up and discovered that she was a grown-up! And sadly no longer did her lovely high heels have quite the same comfort factor that they used to. But there are always compensations! The girl discovered knitting and the joy of a pair of hand knitted socks!

Which are still just as good for dancing in! Even if it is just around the house!

Finally finished over a year after casting on the first sock. Finished the second one from heel picking up to kitchener stitch in a weekend! A bit of a record for me!

    lovely!
homemade socks are the very best — especially for dancing round the house in. my 13 year-old and her several bestest friends all have orders in with me for handknit socks.
