Christmas Knitting

And hello there people! Well after over a week's self imposed radio silence to recover from Blogtoberfest I am back with a little Christmas crafting!

Normally I'm not big on crafting for Christmas gifts. I tend to just about manage to make Christmas cards and then call it quits. I often have grand plans for gifting out the handmade goodness but I find that time, light and my annual hibernation tend to draw a line through such grand ideas. This year though I have a couple of things I want to get done. One of which was this little cutey! If anyone had told me what instant gratification knitting for kids was I would have got started a long time ago! This hat is a bit of a joke gift for the only baby in the family who is having his first Christmas this year. I figured that everyone is bound to buy him Father Christmas hats and outfits but that no one would think of a Christmas pudding!

The pattern is an old one that I ripped out of a British magazine and now have no idea what it was! The "cream" top was supposed to be knitted as well but it didn't seem quite right to me so I substituted for a crochet crown of sauce that you could still see the pudding through. Then it was a hop skip and a jump to whip up the holly leaves and berries. (I''m thinking I might make those my Christmas cards this year as they really were ridiculously quick to make!)

So now I need to plan a visit to the baby branch of the family to drop this off and have some serious baby snuggle time! I just hope it fits and they like it, I have no idea how big baby/children's heads are! As for liking it, I know if someone gave me something like this I would adore it, now I am trying to figure out how to adapt it for an adult head!

oh if only woolly hats weren’t so absurd for Christmas in Australia I would make one for Baby Alice! Honestly I think it would be a form of torture to put a hat, even one that cute, on the head of a baby in high summer! And then it would seem most inappropriate to make it for next June!

That is one of the cutest baby hats I’ve ever seen! Remember to take a photo of the baby wearing it.
